One of the pleasures of living in the country is the variety of animals that are part of our everyday experience. A herd of deer, numbering from a few to 25 or 30 or more, appears every morning and evening outside our office window.  The first appearance of the fawns in the spring is always exciting.  The bucks appear in the fall during mating season. Check out the 8 pt. buck video.

We have several pairs of nesting bluebirds each spring.  The male and female appear to work equally hard to fledge their brood.  One pair raised three broods in one year.  On the other end of the bird spectrum we have a pair of vultures that raise a pair of babies each year. They "nest" in one of our old chicken houses.  When the baby vultures fledge they like to roost on our chimneys.

Wild turkeys are often seen in the field by our office.  Watching  the young turkeys catch grasshoppers ( see turkey video) it is easy to see how they might have decended from dinosaurs.

Our restored antique sawmill not only produces good lumber but is fun to operate.
